In honor of my first attempts at reading this most cherished of Classic Literature, I am posting some of the most beautiful artwork ever transcribed from fiction.
Coincidentally, the artist who painted these (John Martin) was born 5 miles from my house. I also saw a show recently where Stephen O'Malley played a show in front of one of John Martin's paintings. Small world!
What a brilliant comment: 'artwork transcribed from fiction'! Thank you for sharing. I would just like to add that the first painting is by William Hogarth (1697-1764) and it was painted between 1735 and 1740.
